Remember Monday, the group representing the UK at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, have admitted that scoring points at the competition is not their priority.

There isn’t long to go until Europe’s campest singing competition returns, taking place this year in Basel, Switzerland after Swiss musician Nemo’s victory in 2024.

Speculation is mounting over which country will be the frontrunner, with most recent odds from bookies giving the UK 4-1 chances of finishing at the bottom of the leaderboard.

This might be seen as a setback to some, but Remember Monday – who first found fame on The Voice UK – aren’t letting the latest predictions bring down their morale, as they explained to Metro.

When asked how they feel about their odds slipping – currently boasting 40-1 chances of winning, according to bookmaker Coral – the musical trio are deciding not to focus on the possibility of a low score, after Olly Alexander scored a mere 46 points in 2024.

‘I didn’t know that,’ Holly-Anne Hull said regarding Remember Monday’s odds going down, while Charlotte Steele remarked: ‘I didn’t tell you guys.’

Sitting between her two bandmates, Lauren Byrne added: ‘I’ve been blissfully ignorant.’

Holly-Anne then admitted that they’re ‘making the conscious decision’ not to keep an eye on the odds, as they ‘cannot have their live performance affected in any way’.

‘We’re not doing it for the points,’ she continued. ‘We’re doing it to watch that video back and be so proud of what we’ve done at that stage.’

Despite the continued attention placed on the bookmakers’ predictions, Charlotte stressed that they ‘don’t decide the winner’ of the Song Contest.

‘You look at the history within Eurovision, the amount of winners that were like 20th in the bookies’ bets. It doesn’t mean anything,’ she stated, prompting Lauren to jokingly quip: ‘You hear that bookies?’

However, Holly-Anne added that she has a further personal stake in the outcome of the competition… as her husband has placed a bet on them winning.

‘My husband has bet – we’re right at the bottom – he’s bet that we’ll win. So do it for him,’ she shared.

Even though former Years and Years singer Olly didn’t achieve the result he was hoping for last year, he still offered his successors some advice before this year’s contest – to ‘get a good therapist’.

‘Listen, we’ve had good therapists for years,’ Lauren told us. ‘The lucky thing is, we’re kind of each other’s therapists as well.’

The singer added that Olly had reached out to them and sent them a ‘lovely message’ saying that he was ‘so excited’ for them as they embark on their Eurovision journey.

‘He was like, “If you want any advice, just reach out.” So we’re really grateful to Olly.’

The Eurovision Song Contest takes place from Tuesday May 13 to Saturday May 17.
