unexpected career turn for a famous British actor is proving a hit with <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/amazon-prime-video\/\">Amazon Prime Video<\/a> viewers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/11\/01\/disarmed-hugh-grants-chilling-charm-unusual-horror-heretic-21899347\/\">Heretic<\/a>, which starred <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/hugh-grant\/\">Hugh Grant<\/a> as the eccentric and creepy Mr. Reed, was released in November last year to widespread critical acclaim.<\/p>\n<p>The film follows the story of two Mormon missionaries who visit Mr. Reed’s home after he expresses interest in joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.<\/p>\n<p>The two missionaries – Sister Barnes (Sophie Thatcher) and Sister Paxton (Chloe East) – immediately realise they’re <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/09\/24\/hugh-grants-wonderfully-twisted-horror-film-leaves-fans-truly-terrified-21664522\/\">in a situation that’s more than they bargained for<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While Heretic only made back $60million (\u00a344m) at the global box office, that was still roughly<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/09\/09\/hugh-grant-stuns-fans-career-best-performance-new-horror-21574207\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/09\/09\/hugh-grant-stuns-fans-career-best-performance-new-horror-21574207\/\"> six times larger than the budget it was made with<\/a> – $10m (\u00a37m).<\/p>\n<p>And critics were fans too, with Heretic currently boasting a Rotten Tomatoes critic rating of 91%, a critic score of 7.3 out of 10, and an audience rating of 76%.<\/p>\n<figure Hugh Grant is absolutely brilliant. Manages to make an unarmed middle aged man in a brown jumper epically scary. A great watch.’<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, @MandoDameron was excited that ‘Heretic is on Amazon Prime at last!’ with a series of emojis implying they were running to watch it.<\/p>\n<p>@MontyIsBlessed also couldn’t get enough: ‘Theologically thrilling and brilliant \u2014 I never imagined a movie and theology could bang this hard.’<\/p>\n<p>@PaulDuncan67 said: ‘Hugh Grant gets better every time I watch him.
