href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/wynne-evans\/\">Wynne Evans<\/a> became choked up as he spoke on This Morning about his Strictly Come Dancing scandal, just a day after announcing he is engaged.<\/p>\n<p>The Welsh opera singer, 53, was sensationally dumped from the <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/strictly-come-dancing\/\">Strictly Come Dancing<\/a> Live Tour earlier this year over comments he made involving host <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/janette-manrara\/\">Janette Manrara<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/05\/24\/wynne-evans-insists-not-a-bad-guy-first-tell-all-interview-strictly-sex-scandals-23239565\/\">The \u2018unacceptable\u2019 joke referenced having a threesome<\/a> with the dancer, 41.<\/p>\n<p>Soon after he apologised, saying he was \u2018deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate action caused\u2019 and would take a break from the public eye for \u2018self-reflection\u2019 and to \u2018prioritise my wellbeing\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>At the time it was reported that <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/01\/31\/wynne-evans-dumped-humiliated-girlfriend-strictly-live-tour-axe-22472569\/\">he\u2019d been dumped by his girlfriend Liz Brookes<\/a>, 50, but it was then the darkest spot of his life’ when the attention ‘wouldn’t stop’.<\/p>\n<p>‘I was at my lowest ebb, I wanted to end my life. I would have if I hadn’t been surrounded by people,’ he said.<\/p>\n<p>At one point, Evans said that he remembered expressing suicidal thoughts to his grilfriend.<\/p>\n<p>‘I remember saying to my girlfriend, “I have to kill myself. And, even though I was only 46, I had this irrational fear of dying on my own.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Wynne\u2019s engagement <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/05\/30\/wynne-evans-gutted-confirms-bbc-axe-it-breaks-heart-23287643\/#\">comes a few months after he was axed by the BBC<\/a>, who didn\u2019t renew his one-year rolling BBC Radio contract following a four-month investigation.<\/p>\n<p>He confirmed in an Instagram statement: \u2018It breaks my heart to say the BBC has decided not to renew my contract, so I won\u2019t be returning to my radio show. I\u2019m gutted. That show wasn\u2019t just work \u2014 it was home. It was us. We laughed, we cried, we sang like nobody was listening. And somehow, through the airwaves, we became a family.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the BBC told Metro: \u2018Wynne Evans is not under contract with the BBC.
