making its way to <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/bbc-2\/\">BBC<\/a> iPlayer.<\/p>\n<p>Released in 2021, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2022\/03\/07\/the-power-of-the-dog-benedict-cumberbatch-dismisses-criticism-16228929\/\">The Power of the Dog<\/a><\/strong> stars <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/benedict-cumberbatch\/\">Benedict Cumberbatch<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2022\/07\/09\/kirsten-dunst-secretly-marries-long-term-partner-jesse-plemons-16970574\/\">Jesse Plemons<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2021\/10\/12\/kirsten-dunst-just-wanted-to-please-jane-campion-in-power-of-the-dog-15404947\/\">Kirsten Dunst<\/a> and is based on the 1967 novel of the same name by Thomas Savage.<\/p>\n<p>The film follows wealthy ranching brothers Phil (Cumberbatch) and George Burbank (Plemons) who meet widow Rose (Dunst) and her son Peter (<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2021\/10\/12\/kodi-smit-mcphee-on-cool-power-of-the-dog-audition-and-cumberbatch-15405554\/\">Kodi Smit-McPhee<\/a>) during a cattle drive.<\/p>\n<p>The volatile and brash Phil takes a dislike to Rose, but George strikes up a relationship with her – which eventually leads them to marry – and Rose and Peter to move to the Burbank ranch house.<\/p>\n<p>As Phil taunts Rose, he appears to take Peter under his wing, but his intentions don’t seem as clear-cut to Rose.<\/p>\n<p>For those who didn’t catch the award-winning hit, or just want to rewatch, it is now
