Netflix<\/a> fans are rushing to watch<\/a> a \u2018fresh\u2019 new comedy<\/a> series unlike anything they\u2019ve seen before<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After being initially being January, North of North dropped on Netflix UK <\/a>over the weekend.<\/p>\n

The Canadian<\/a> series stars Anna Lambe as Siaja, a young Inuk woman in the small fictional Arctic community of Ice Cove.<\/p>\n

The eight episodes follow the \u2018optimistic young woman as she embarks on a journey to reinvent herself in her tiny Arctic hometown, where everyone knows each other\u2019s business\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018She must then navigate the unpredictable, and often hilarious, highs and lows that come with relationships, motherhood, a new job, and finding her own way.\u2019<\/p>\n

the most watched TV show list on Netflix UK, where it\u2019s currently sitting at number 9.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been acclaimed by both critics and audiences alike.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018A mostly winning exploration of Inuit culture, the stressful limitations of life in a small town, and the heartbreaking intersection between who you are and who you want to be,\u2019 RogerEbert.com wrote in its review.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018A gorgeously shot, warm-hearted, but unafraid to be raunchy, Inuit-led comedy set in Nunavut with elements of magical realism and a Netflix-boosted budget,\u2019 the Globe and Mail shared.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018North of North is unassuming in its humour, only occasionally provoking full-on belly laughs or delivering memorably quotable lines. But I found, as I kept watching, that what was near-constant was the smile on my face,\u2019 The Hollywood Reporter added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile fans called it \u2018refreshing\u2019, \u2018touching\u2019 and \u2018heartfelt\u2019.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"377\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nichesitetool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/SEI_247531443-6744.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22905105\" alt=\"Netflix quietly drops all 8 episodes of 'best TV series of the year'\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>It’s set in a small town in the Artic (Picture: Netflix)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Many have also already begged for a second season too.<\/p>\n<p>North of North was filmed in Iqaluit, the real-life capital and most populous city of the Arctic Canadian territory of Nunavut., where Inuit co-creators Stacey Aglok-MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril live.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/7275134\/north-of-north-netflix-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Time <\/a>recently, the pair spoke about how their series stood apart from others with Indigenous characters.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018A lot of us have been painted as these disappearing cultures, which is not true at all. And so a lot of Indigenous filmmakers are choosing humour. The vast majority of media about us has been done by others, and we’re breaking away from that tradition,\u2019 Arnaquq-Baril said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We wanted to make a show that felt real and true for the both of us and for Inuit everywhere.
