Searchlight Pictures \/ Courtesy Everett Collection Everett Collection - 2022\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Janet played an acerbic food critic in The Menu (Picture: Searchlight Pictures\/Everett\/REX\/Shutterstock)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The new <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/harry-potter\/\">Harry Potter<\/a> TV adaptation should be a breeze for <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/14\/harry-potter-tv-series-officially-confirms-6-extraordinary-stars-joining-reboot-cast-22905771\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recently announced cast member<\/a> Janet McTeer, as she has had previous dealings with Voldemort&#8230; of sorts.<\/p>\n<p>The 63-year-old British actor will play Head of Gryffindor House, Minerva McGonagall, first portrayed by the late Dame <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/maggie-smith\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\">Maggie Smith<\/a> in the film franchise.<\/p>\n<p>Janet will star alongside the likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/26\/harry-potter-fans-reveal-major-theory-hagrid-reboot-casting-revealed-22794878\/\">Nick Frost<\/a> as <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/26\/harry-potter-fans-reveal-major-theory-hagrid-reboot-casting-revealed-22794878\/\">Rubeus Hagrid<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/14\/harry-potter-star-paapa-essiedus-genius-bbc-drama-can-binge-now-22908070\/\">Paapa Essiedu<\/a> as Severus Snape, and <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/02\/26\/john-lithgow-confirms-total-surprise-playing-albus-dumbledore-harry-potter-tv-reboot-22626821\/\">John Lithgow<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/02\/26\/john-lithgow-confirms-total-surprise-playing-albus-dumbledore-harry-potter-tv-reboot-22626821\/\">as Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore<\/a>, in the TV version of JK Rowling&#8217;s acclaimed novels.<\/p>\n<p>Cast yet to be announced includes the actors who will play Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, although over 30,000 children are reported to have auditioned.<\/p>\n<p>The star taking on He Who Shall not be Named, aka the dark Lord Voldemort, has also not been unveiled,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/12\/04\/will-play-lord-voldemort-harry-potter-tv-series-7-top-contenders-22122537\/\">although fans are convinced Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy<\/a>&nbsp;is set to wield the wand.<\/p>\n<p>However, Janet previously faced off against Ralph Fiennes, who played Voldemort in the movies, in 2022&#8217;s darkly comedic foodie satire film, The Menu.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"THE MENU | Official Trailer | Searchlight Pictures\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/C_uTkUGcHv4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong><em>*Warning: this article will now contain spoilers for The Menu<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"430\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nichesitetool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/SEI_242798749-7a27.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22909438\" alt=\"Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort holding a wand in Harry Potter\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Ralph Fiennes, who played Voldemort in the Harry Potter films, also starred in The Menu (Picture: Courtesy of Warner Bros Pictures)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In it, Ralph, 62, plays another devilish character, this time in the form of top chef Julian Slowik, who invites a select group of diners to sample a once-in-a-lifetime evening of food at his restaurant on a private island.<\/p>\n<p>But the guests &#8211; including Janet&#8217;s character, acerbic food critic Lillian Bloom &#8211; have all been hand-picked by Julian because they have all wronged him, or the art of cooking.<\/p>\n<p>In revenge, he informs them this meal will be their last as he plans to kill them by dawn.<\/p>\n<p>On Google, cinema goers have raved about &#8216;twisted&#8217; The Menu, including Brie Prescott, who writes: &#8216;I am beyond impressed with The Menu. Each character played their role incredibly well, giving life to each course throughout the movie.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Echoing their sentiment, Luis said: &#8216;This movie is nothing short of a masterpiece\u2014an intricate, haunting experience that lingers long after the credits roll. It\u2019s a brilliant blend of storytelling, cinematography, and emotional depth, crafted with an elegance that veers into the unsettling. <\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The film\u2019s ability to balance beauty and darkness creates an atmosphere that&#8217;s both captivating and chilling. It&#8217;s not just a movie; it\u2019s a work of art that demands your attention.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Kara B added: &#8216;This movie so perfectly teeters on the line of absurdism, the menu is extremely conceptual and intelligent. The plot is really easy to follow despite the fairly complex content.
