{"id":3128,"date":"2025-04-14T16:56:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-14T16:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nichesitetool.com\/?p=3128"},"modified":"2025-04-15T06:42:47","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T06:42:47","slug":"mario-kart-world-has-secret-vehicles-and-a-damn-good-120fps-mode","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.nichesitetool.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/14\/mario-kart-world-has-secret-vehicles-and-a-damn-good-120fps-mode\/","title":{"rendered":"Mario Kart World has secret vehicles and a \u2018damn good\u2019 120fps mode"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"363\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nichesitetool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/SEI_247559848-785b.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22908567\" alt=\"Daisy and other characters driving boats across the water in Mario Kart World.\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Looks like it&#8217;s not just boats and planes you&#8217;ll get to drive in Mario Kart World (Nintendo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ahead of a dedicated <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/nintendo\/\">Nintendo<\/a> Direct, people have already uncovered some of <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/mario-kart\/\">Mario Kart<\/a> World\u2019s secrets at a recent <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/nintendo-switch-2\/\">Switch 2<\/a> event.<\/p>\n<p>While there remains some understandable controversy regarding <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/04\/nintendo-fans-demand-switch-2-game-price-cut-spam-livestream-22853615\/\">Mario Kart World\u2019s price<\/a>, it\u2019s hard not to be excited for what is set up to be the largest entry in the series.<\/p>\n<p>We were very impressed by it after our <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/03\/mario-kart-world-nintendo-switch-2s-best-game-hands-on-preview-22840585\/\">hands-on preview<\/a> and you\u2019re sure to find plenty of positive impressions on social media by those who got to experience at the London preview event over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Some players even managed to stumble across some extra secrets not yet discussed by Nintendo, including larger vehicles you can pilot in the open world.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/getmadz\/status\/1910811281356968365\">YouTuber GetMadz<\/a> drew attention to this with a recording of their play session at the London event, where they drove out into the open sea and spotted some kind of hovercraft.<\/p>\n<p>Upon driving into it, they were able to pilot it themselves before eventually disembarking back on dry land.<\/p>\n<p>This certainly isn\u2019t the only example. In the game\u2019s announcement trailer, you can see Birdo drive into the back of a truck and take control of it. We experienced this exact example while at the London event and were able to knock past other vehicles while roaming the open world.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mario Kart World \u2013 Announcement Trailer (Nintendo Switch 2)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RLogERrKOrU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>It\u2019s not entirely clear if these hidden vehicles are exclusive to the free roam mode or can be used in regular races, but the example seen in the trailer suggests it could be the latter since other characters can be seen.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/digitalfoundry-2025-mario-kart-world-tech-preview\">Digital Foundry<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/gaming\/nintendo\/mario-kart-world-hands-on-the-perfect-launch-game-for-the-switch-2-130003924.html?_fsig=BDPlFto6UjBtZaCsFpxUOg--%7EA\">Engadget<\/a> have claimed that Mario Kart World will boast an option to run at 120 frames per second rather than the standard 60 after its own hands-on session.<\/p>\n<p>Although neither have footage to demonstrate how 120fps looks in action, Engadget has nothing but praise for it, calling it &#8216;damn good&#8217; and that &#8216;Racing has never looked this smooth on any Nintendo console.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>With any luck, all these features and more will be explained in greater detail at the upcoming Nintendo Direct.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When is the Mario Kart World Nintendo Direct?<\/h2>\n<p>A Nintendo Direct dedicated entirely to Mario Kart World is scheduled to air this week <strong>on Thursday, April 17 at 2pm BST<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Nintendo hasn\u2019t said how long it will run for, so there\u2019s currently no telling how extensive it will be. There\u2019s also no telling whether it\u2019ll be enough to win over the people who are unhappy with the game\u2019s \u00a375 price tag.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully, Nintendo will use the Direct to promote the Nintendo Switch 2 bundle that includes a copy of Mario Kart World since it\u2019s \u00a3429.99 and thus lets you get the game at a cheaper price.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"363\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nichesitetool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/SEI_246131925-e0bf.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22842253\" alt=\"Mario Kart World Free Roam with Mario and other characters\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>What else is Nintendo hiding?
