Nearly 20 years after he burst onto our screens in Summer Heights High, Mr G is back<\/a>!<\/p>\n

In 2007 the passionate drama teacher was introduced to viewers on the Australian comedy<\/a> series.<\/p>\n

Written by and starring comedian Chris Lilley<\/a>, the show focused on a high school<\/a> in the outer suburbs of Sydney and followed three main characters \u2013 \u2018Director of Performing Arts\u2019 Mr G, private-school exchange student Ja\u2019mie King and disruptive student Jonah Takalua.<\/p>\n

Summer Heights High was a massive success <\/a>for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, winning a Logie Award for most popular light entertainment\/ comedy program, being sold internationally and later airing in the UK, US<\/a> and Canada<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Following the response, Lilley went on to develop spin-off shows<\/a> \u2013 Jai\u2019mie: Private School Girl in 2013 and Jonah from Tonga the following year.<\/p>\n

Despite only airing for eight episodes, many viewers can still quote countless lines from the show, with Mr G offering many memorable moments.<\/p>\n

Ecstasy. E. E. E. E. Ecstasy. She\u2019s a party girl with a bad habit. A bad habit for drugs.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Fans of the series have called it \u2018satirical genius\u2019, \u2018undeniably hilarious\u2019 and even \u2018the funniest show on TV\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>After years of speculation, Lilley has now confirmed the beloved (and at times controversial) character will be returning.<\/p>\n<p>This week he\u2019s shared a series of clips on social media that have sent fans into a frenzy.<\/p>\n<p>The first showed a pink exercise ball (a prop regularly used in his classroom) rolling across a room, the second presented the legs of a man dancing, while the third saw a man doing up his tie, sitting on a chair and bouncing on the ball while a piano played in the background.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"565\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nichesitetool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/SEI_246926846-b6c4-e1744269428994.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22881102\" alt=\"Editorial use only. We\u2019ve been waiting for Mr G\u2019s star moment for YEARS,\u2019 Marcus shared.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018THE MOMENT WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!! Welcome to Mr. G’s room, come inside…and take your shoes off, find a spot on the floor.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018That’s one of our staff who has cancer. She’s been dead for ages.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019m director of performing arts. Spread it.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The staff is really excited too. Everybody’s giving me a little eyebrow raise when I’m walking up the corridor, when usually they look away.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I can’t think of a better way to commemorate a student’s life than to write a musical about them!\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I think for some kids it’s better that they know now than find out later in life that they’ve got no talent. I always say that they’ll thank me one day.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Just a little bit of poo on the floor and they’d shut us down.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It was also later one of several series created by Lilley that was removed by Netflix due to the use of blackface and brownface, a move done in response to the George Floyd protests in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unilad.com\/celebrity\/news\/chris-brown-lawsuit-warner-bros-069396-20250122\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UniLad <\/a>in 2023, Lilley said Mr G was \u2018definitely a character who I\u2019d love to bring back\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It\u2019s just circumstances at the moment. I think people think I have some sort of strategy or plan but it all just happens pretty randomly. There are literally scripts sitting on shelves for him.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>He went on to address the controversy surrounding his show, saying he \u2018wouldn\u2019t change a thing\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019m so proud of all my work, and I almost wish I could push the boundaries further,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Referencing Mr G, he added: \u2018I just think if your intention is to be funny and point out a really crazy, narcissistic character that\u2019s being inappropriate in front of kids, it’s like, that’s the joke. I wish I took it further.
