href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/sport\/f1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Formula One<\/a> movie F1 starring <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/brad-pitt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brad Pitt<\/a> has dropped \u2013 and it looks like his role of veteran driver Sonny Hayes fits the star like a glove.<\/p>\n<p>In a pulse-pounding look at the glossy and action-packed film, which has <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2023\/11\/15\/f1-hits-back-million-dollar-loss-claims-brad-pitt-movie-19829660\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reportedly cost over $300million<\/a> (\u00a3231.2m), we see everything \u2013 fireworks, dramatic races and unparalleled views of the <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2023\/04\/24\/brad-pitt-to-race-lewis-hamilton-at-british-grand-prix-for-f1-film-18664488\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">real Formula One tracks where it was shot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But F1 is not just about racing cars, as impressive as they look and sound here, it\u2019s about the relationship between \u2018has-been\u2019 Hayes, living in a van and given an open seat in Formula One, and the upstart rookie he\u2019s to mentor, Joshua \u2018Noah\u2019 Pearce (<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/damson-idris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Damson Idris<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/javier-bardem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Javier Bardem<\/a>\u2019s Ruben, Hayes\u2019 friend and Apex Grand Prix team owner, puts the two together, who are seen butting heads instantly.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018If you\u2019ve any constructive criticism for one another, what would it be?\u2019 asks Kerry Condon\u2019s Kate, the team technical director, at a tense dinner, only for the two drivers to interrupt each other immediately with choice insults.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018That was constructive,\u2019 committing to clinching his first-ever Formula One victory.<\/p>\n<p>A look at the high-octane thrills of F1, which build over the trailer, could of course not have been soundtracked by anything other than Fleetwood Mac\u2019s The Chain.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s plenty of hype building around F1, not least because the cast \u2013 which also includes Tobias Menzies and Shea Whigham \u2013 also numbers several real Formula One drivers playing themselves, thanks to producer <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/lewis-hamilton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sir Lewis Hamilton<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/09\/max-verstappen-blasts-netflix-very-sad-drive-survive-scene-22695966\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">including Max Verstappen<\/a>, Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris.<\/p>\n<p>Director Joseph Kosinski revealed that it was <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/11\/f1-champion-sends-warning-lewis-hamilton-ahead-ferrari-debut-22699289\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">none other than 40-year-old Sir Lewis<\/a> who gave Pitt, 61, his first driving lesson because, as he put it, \u2018if Brad can’t drive, this whole film wasn’t going to work\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>However, Kosinski told press including <strong>Metro<\/strong> during a special Q&A for the trailer launch:  \u2018He’s a <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2023\/11\/21\/brad-pitt-actually-amazed-f1-drivers-skills-new-movie-19857120\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">very talented, naturally gifted driver<\/a>, which for Lewis, after that first meeting, gave him a lot of confidence that we might have a shot at pulling He’s really concentrating on keeping that car on the track and out of the wall during all those scenes \u2013 so that’s something that you just can’t fake.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The filmmaker also singled out rising British star Idris, 33, for praise as he tackles his first major film role opposite Pitt.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018People might know him from his television career, but maybe not from the movies. I’m really excited for people to see him here going toe to toe with Brad on a big screen and a big story.\u2019<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"269\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nichesitetool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/SEI_243619432-40a7-e1741814019710.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22717016\" alt=\"F1 | Official Teaser with Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Lewis Hamilton\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Director Joseph Kosinski has revealed Pitt’s natural talents, with convinced producer Sir Lewis Hamilton (Picture: Warner Bros\/Apple)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Kosinski also gave insight into how F1 managed to pull off its shoot, which saw the movie <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2023\/07\/09\/brad-pitt-takes-to-silverstone-during-british-f1-grand-prix-19095416\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filmed during race weekends<\/a>, mid-season, on Formula One tracks across the globe and in front of hundreds of thousands of fans.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We’d get these 10- or 15-minute slots where we’d have to have Brad and Damson ready in the cars, warmed up with hot tires, ready to go, and as soon as practice ended, they would pull out onto the track. We’d have 24, 30 cameras ready, rolling, and I’d have to shoot these scenes in these very short, intense, high-speed windows.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But the crowd you’re seeing was really there in the stands. I don’t think the crowd realised that Brad Pitt was in the car that was in front of them,\u2019 he laughed.<\/p>\n<p>The director, who also helmed Top Gun: Maverick with Tom Cruise, also spoke about the honour of having Formula One\u2019s blessing and help.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Certainly asking to be part of that family and that world and to say you’re making a movie, there’s going to be some reticence there.
