{"id":1629,"date":"2025-03-26T17:43:31","date_gmt":"2025-03-26T18:43:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nichesitetool.com\/?p=1629"},"modified":"2025-03-27T12:36:39","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T12:36:39","slug":"man-who-won-biggest-tv-prize-in-us-history-still-hasnt-got-it-7-months-later","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.nichesitetool.com\/index.php\/2025\/03\/26\/man-who-won-biggest-tv-prize-in-us-history-still-hasnt-got-it-7-months-later\/","title":{"rendered":"Man who won biggest TV prize in US history still hasn\u2019t got it 7 months later"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"434\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nichesitetool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/GettyImages-2202923305-e1743068727783.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22798394\" alt=\"Record-breaking win on Deal or No Deal US\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Deal or No Deal Island host Joe Manganiello watched on as David Genat won a fortune (Picture: NBC)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>David Genat made history by winning the most money ever given away on network TV in the <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/us-news\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\">US<\/a> \u2013 but he still hasn\u2019t received his jackpot yet.<\/p>\n<p>The Survivor star totally stole the show when he took part on season two of <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/02\/21\/a-deal-no-deal-spin-off-coming-people-baffled-20323106\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Peacock\u2019s Deal or No Deal Island<\/a>, and won the competition on Tuesday night\u2019s finale, taking home a whopping $5.8million.<\/p>\n<p>The gameshow follows contestants as they are transported to paradise in the hopes of winning a fortune, with different sums of money hidden around the island \u2013 they then complete challenges to secure briefcases, which are then used in nightly Deal or No Deal games.<\/p>\n<p>In gripping scenes filmed last August, the 45-year-old was down to his last two cases, containing either $75 or the $12.2m grand prize, when he was offered a total of $5.8m <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2018\/02\/20\/chrissy-teigen-drops-bombshell-knows-meghan-markle-deal-no-deal-days-7328069\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">from banker Chrissy Teigen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He accepted the offer which proved to be the right move as his own case only had $75 inside, meaning he almost lost out on an eye-watering sum.<\/p>\n<p>However, despite filming ending last summer, David shared that he has yet to get his winnings \u2013 but he has \u2018already started spending it\u2019.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Deal Or No Deal Island Season 2 | Official Trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lgg_QN43rqM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Detailing his plans for the money in a new interview, he told <a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/deal-or-no-deal-island-winner-david-genat-hasnt-gotten-his-money-11703533\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Entertainment Weekly<\/a>: \u2018It&#8217;s not in the account just yet.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I remember just after everything happened, someone came and shoved a contract in my face and they were like, \u201cSo you need to sign this to facilitate getting the money.\u201d And I was like, \u201cOkay, let me just have a little read here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2018At the top it was like, \u201cWe such and such declare we will sign over the value of $5.8 million to the assigned.\u201d And I was signing my name on that line. It was heavy.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>While we would be sending hourly requests for a bank transfer, David explained that he hasn\u2019t even \u2018asked that question yet\u2019 of when he can expect the $5million to hit his account.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"969\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nichesitetool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/GettyImages-2205307960.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22798393\" alt=\"Deal or No Deal Island - Season 2\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>David accepted an offer worth more than $5million (Picture: NBC)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He also told the outlet that his plan, if he didn\u2019t accept the deal, was to actually switch cases at the final moment, meaning he could have walked away with more than double his money.<\/p>\n<p>Although he missed out on taking home a briefcase containing more than $12million, the contestant was much happier with what he ended up with \u2013 <em>when <\/em>he gets it, that is.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I wanted to do something that had never been done before. I wanted to accomplish something that had never been done,\u2019 he continued. \u2018And at 5.8, I do that. I leave a little bit of room for someone else to maybe do something bigger in the game.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Also at 5.8, I&#8217;m still motivated to do something. At 12.2. I&#8217;m like, check me out, I&#8217;m done. I&#8217;m not good to society anymore. That&#8217;s just too much money for me. And if I&#8217;m smart, then I can turn 5.8 to 12.2.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Game show icons will be beside themselves at the prospect of beating David\u2019s win next season, but host Joe Manganiello shared that the finale actually presented everyone involved with a \u2018future challenge\u2019 for the upcoming episodes.<\/p>\n<p>He told Deadline: \u2018What\u2019s going to happen next season? How are we going to top that? This season finale is so unbelievable. The person who wins winds up breaking the all-time television game show record for money won.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018What actually had to happen in order for that to go down is \u2026 I mean, people are going to be talking about it.
