Scooby-Doo<\/a> fans have issued a plea to Netflix<\/a> after the streaming giant announced an eight-episode live-action remake of the iconic cartoon.<\/p>\n

Following more than 12 animated series and three theatrical films, one of pop culture\u2019s most recognisable and entertaining characters is making his return.<\/p>\n

Written by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, the new series will take a look at how the cowardly dog and mystery-solving gang first got together. <\/p>\n

Across eight episodes, Netflix announced that old friends Shaggy and Daphne <\/a>will team up at summer camp with Velma <\/a>and Fred to solve the mystery of a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy who may have witnessed a supernatural murder.<\/p>\n

Commenting on Reddit, literallyacactus said: \u2018I\u2019ve been wanting a more mature scooby doo series for a while please be good.\u2019<\/p>\n

Hylianhaxorus added: \u2018This I’m down for. Please just either make it feel like authentic scooby doo or like the Gunn written live action films though. Please don’t have it resemble the made for TV live action movies.\u2019<\/p>\n

Based on characters from Hanna-Barbera, the latest show is a \u2018modern reimagining\u2019 of the iconic show. <\/p>\n

The series will be executive produced by Rosenberg and Appelbaum, as well as Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman and Andr\u00e9 Nemec and Jeff Pinkner. <\/p>\n

Appelbaum’s previous credits include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, while Rosenberg has writing credits on both Jumanji <\/a>films and Venom.<\/p>\n

Both writers have also written Citadel together as well as High Fidelity, starring Zo\u00eb Kravitz.<\/p>\n

Peter Friedlander, vice president of scripted series at Netflix, said in a statement: \u2018We\u2019re excited to bring Scooby-Doo to TV as a live-action series for the first time.<\/p>\n

Clancy Collins White, president of creative affairs at Warner Bros. Television, added, \u2018It\u2019s no mystery why audiences continue to love these iconic characters after more than a half century. <\/p>\n

\u2018We\u2019re excited for a new generation to discover Mystery Inc. And we\u2019re grateful to our partners at Netflix for the opportunity.\u2019<\/p>\n

Scooby-Doo will be available to stream on Netflix.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
